A Guide to Driving Sunglasses

Driving is one of the major reason people get sunglasses. Having a pair of good sunglasses is essential to anyone behind the wheel. When sun hits right into your eyes you lose up to 90% of road view. This can cost you a car and in the worst case scenario a life. Getting a pair of sunglasses for driving could be compared to how to swim - it is life essential.

When buying a pair of sunglasses for driving there are a few things to consider:

1. Driving sunglasses must provide a full view

When getting sunglasses for driving make sure when you wear them they don't come in a way to your vision. Some sunglasses can look really cool, but once on the face you should not see a frame in either directions. It means no frame on the top, bottom or sides. Shield shape sunglasses or those that wrap on the sides are usually the best.

2. Driving sunglasses must not slide off the face

While when driving you don't tend to move a lot, you may still drop your head down to read something. You don't want to take your hands off the wheel to put sunglasses back onto the face. So, sunglasses for driving must be snug on your face. Some of the popular Oakley sunglasses models have rubber ends on the arms. This makes them very popular for driving as they will stay put on the head at all times.

3. Do you need polarized sunglasses for driving?

This is a common dilemma among people who need sunglasses for driving. Polarized sunglasses are great because they cut glare - very annoying thing during winter especially. But some people don't like how polarized glasses interfere with the windshield creating a rainbow effect on the sides. It is up to you. There is no right or wrong.

4. Do you need vision corrective lenses in your sunglasses?

Even if your eyes are super good on normal occasion, driving is different. When you drive you actually read a lot of signs and tend to look much further ahead than while walking and talking. When you go to a doctor to check your eyes, you will often walk out with a prescription for driving purposes only. If this is your case you might as well get sunglasses with prescription lenses to get best of both worlds.

5. Do you need sunglasses for evening driving?

Yes, as funny as it sounds, you need sunglasses in the evening and early morning when sun is on the most horizontal angle. In early hours and just before the sunset sun may not be very powerful but it will beam right into your eyes. This is when you may lose 90% of the road view. You absolutely need sunglasses then.

Lance Armstrong Oakley Sunglasses

Oakley, largest American sunglasses manufacturer, is very devoted to charities that support sport related funds. LIVESTRONG foundation is one of them. Lance Armstrong, the most accomplished American cyclist is a founder of this foundation. Livestrong charity fund is devoted to raising funds for cancer research. Lance Armstrong himself is cancer survivor and is an avid campaigner for all kinds of cancer research programs himself. Livestrong foundation has raised over $400 million since it was founded in 1997. Lance Aemstrong himself has donated personally over $6 million.

Oakley is an official sponsor of Lance Armstrong and contributor to his charity fund. To date Oakley has put over $1.4 million into the fund. In addition for every Livestrong Oakley sunglasses sale, Oakley will put $20. But don't be alarmed, interestingly Livestrong Oakley's are not any more expensive than other glasses of the same type. In fact, you will find they are even cheaper. This is a real devotion to charity work from Oakley. Real, honest support of a foundation.

Oakley Livestrong sunglasses are very beautiful. Mainly due to color combination. Livestrong color is bright yellow. Many Oakley glasses are black, or black being predominant color. Combine it with yellow and you will see an absolutely beautiful pair of sunglasses.

At EyeInform store currently there are four Livestrong models. Have a look:

This model of Oakley Jawbone has vented lenses and comes with additional vented pair of lenses for night cycling. Of course, you can use these glasses for running or any other sport. Vented lenses, with holes on the sides are designed to allow some air between lens and a face to prevent sweating.

Oakley Radar path looks cool because it has shield lens shape. I personally find this model the coolest. This lens shapes allows for best wind flow and best peripheral vision.

Oakley Flack Jacket is by no doubt their signature. Lenses can be replaced with an easy tweak. These glasses are also unisex, and ladies favorites. If you are Asian, you don't even need an Asian fit, this model is narrow enough to not touch you cheeks. If you have high cheek bones, Flack Jacket is perfect.

Oakley Fuel Cell is one of the best sellers for non-sport purposes. Also, one of the cheapest. Don't expect much functionality, but lookwise it is beautiful.

What is Cruise Collection

Cruise Collections are interim collections, usually released in November of each year. You definitely know about Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer collections that each respectable fashion house releases every year during Paris Fashion Week or New York Fashion Week. Cruise collection comes in between the two. Only big houses offer this collection and not even all of them. Traditionally cruise collection was meant for customers who take entire winter off to spend it at some sort of warm resort. Lately, however cruise collections changed their meaning and are offered for the transitional season between warm summer and cold winter. It's not necessarily Fall, it's just Cruise. Cruise styles are of course, more casual, leisure and adventures as compared to formal back to work Fall. Not everyone is going back to work, right? Some people are just having another season of fun.
Among commons styles are swimming suits, safari style, jeans, military, floral dresses and so forth.
The idea of cruise collection has captured the media attention since last year Chanel Cruise Collection. Presented during the Monaco's Canne's Film Festival in 2011, Chanel Cruise Collection got such a massive media launch that to date it is considered largest and the most successful fashion collection presentation to date. Karl Lagerfeld, the genius marketer, knew that if he makes a film, that would just make sense at Cannes. So, the film "Tale of Fairy" was released at Cannes featuring a controversial topic and cruise collection that actors wore during the film. When collection got released, many people not so deep into the fashion world, thought that "cruise" is just a name. But, turned out, it's is a type of collection. In fact it was around for over 50 years.
This year many brands have Cruise collections, featured at Style.com. It appears that gypsy theme is prevalent through out many of cruises in 2012.

Details Make Luxury Sunglasses

When you pour couple of hundred dollars on a pair of luxury sunglasses you often wonder "Am I paying for the name only?". Unfortunately today in many cases yes. Biggest expense line on the luxury brand business income statement is marketing. Ads in magazines, billboards, Internet, sponsoring celebrities etc. It's no longer manufacturing cost. How much it costs to manufacture a pair of Gucci, Dior, Tom Ford sunglasses that retail for $300 and up? Is it $10 or even $1? Of course, no one is arguing about operating expenses such as rent, salaries, delivery costs, also packaging, catalogs and promotional print materials. But when you look at some of the luxury sunglasses on sale today, you would really start asking yourself what am I paying for? 20 years ago glasses and sunglasses where hand assembled from dozens of parts. Little details such as temple decorations, combination in material, logo were so intricately made that eyewear was more of a jewelry. Today, only selected brand names are following the old school manufacturing. Tiffany and Bvlgari are among the few. Of course, being a jewelry company, it is expected of them. The rest would often have a few models that was a true hand work and art work. And this article is about such decorated sunglasses.

Model World is Stepping up to Promote Health

Over the past 5 years fashion world has been put on the spot for promoting unhealthy lifestyle via using super skinny models. Mass media and press posted thousands of stories of "normal" humans being photoshopped to look skinnier, models dying of anorexia and young girls going crazy over the unspoken beauty criteria.

Should a Hollywood actress complain about her curvature being altered by the magazine, Internet is overflowing with cover stories regarding the fact. Should a model drop the line, just like Natalia Vodianova this week, about overeating, it again would become national news and great subject of debate.

But this year is indeed the one when fashion industry is really stepping up and taking action. Georgio Armani was the first to bann using models that have body mass index under 18. Just to give you an idea these would be models with height 5'8 (177 cm) who weight under 110 p (50 kg). While, still quite skinny such models will not die from anorexia according to the Ministry of Health.

Today Vogue magazine has announced that it will stop using models under age of 16. The magazine also issued  a short but powerful list of promises to fight for models rights by providing shorter shifts and better working conditions, to encourage clothing manufacturers to make clothing that will fit healthier looking models and to monitor modeling agencies that hire underage girls.

The documentary Girl Model has already generated a lot of buzz around the issue of young underage girls being mistreated and underpaid by modeling agencies, is scheduled to be released this year.

We will be watching for more actions from the fashion corporations and most importantly the results.

Bvlgari Sunglasses. 2012 collection

Bvlgari, the most famous Italian jewelry maker has added just a few sunglasses models to it's collection. This year, so far is not as eventful as last year. Julian Moore scandal, LVMH acquisition, Elizabeth Taylor passing and estate auction - all of these events kept Bvlgari name in the press.
This year, business is as usual. Bvlgari sunglasses 2012 collection is notably less sparkly as we used to, but it clearly targets different market - people with money, but those seeking less fuzz. Check new models, let us know what you think!

Girl Model. The Movie.

It is great to see a revealing documentary entering the screens called Girl Model by David Redmon and Ashley Sabin who follow a life of a 13 year old model in Tokio.

The documentary brings up the issue of underage girls who are trying to fulfill their life dreams by leaving school and parents to travel to far away continents and working around the clock in harsh conditions. It also brings up a point of lack of international regulations in so called fashion industry that by some reason gets to avoid prosecution for publicizing photos of underage girls in provocative or even nude poses.

There has been many films made about the industry pitfalls, most notable, Models Inc. starring Carrie-Anne Moss, that tried to uncover problems in American modeling world such as under-eating, competitiveness and even prostitution. It was however about mature girls in the United States who work for a well established modeling agency with some sort of rights.

The documentary Gild Model, however, brings up all the bad things about modeling. And it concentrates on girls from Eastern Europe who while being beautiful, skinny and tall genetically, to advantage of modeling agency don't speak any of English or Japanese. They are controlled, put to work and in position of heavy intentional emotional distress, while agencies are collecting millions of dollars for them.

Gill Model is a first step to the issue. In fact, the reality is even harsher then showed. Just few years ago we wrote about Ruslana Korshunova, Russian model that mysteriously died by falling out of the window in New York. Because she was not an American citizen, her death was never properly investigated. It however came to light months later that she was threatened by powerful locals to offer intimate services but refused. It is unclear if she ever contacted police, but certainly shared the horror with her friends and co-workers.

I think the Girl Model documentary should be seen by all young girls who dream to become models.
