A Guide to Driving Sunglasses

Driving is one of the major reason people get sunglasses. Having a pair of good sunglasses is essential to anyone behind the wheel. When sun hits right into your eyes you lose up to 90% of road view. This can cost you a car and in the worst case scenario a life. Getting a pair of sunglasses for driving could be compared to how to swim - it is life essential.

When buying a pair of sunglasses for driving there are a few things to consider:

1. Driving sunglasses must provide a full view

When getting sunglasses for driving make sure when you wear them they don't come in a way to your vision. Some sunglasses can look really cool, but once on the face you should not see a frame in either directions. It means no frame on the top, bottom or sides. Shield shape sunglasses or those that wrap on the sides are usually the best.

2. Driving sunglasses must not slide off the face

While when driving you don't tend to move a lot, you may still drop your head down to read something. You don't want to take your hands off the wheel to put sunglasses back onto the face. So, sunglasses for driving must be snug on your face. Some of the popular Oakley sunglasses models have rubber ends on the arms. This makes them very popular for driving as they will stay put on the head at all times.

3. Do you need polarized sunglasses for driving?

This is a common dilemma among people who need sunglasses for driving. Polarized sunglasses are great because they cut glare - very annoying thing during winter especially. But some people don't like how polarized glasses interfere with the windshield creating a rainbow effect on the sides. It is up to you. There is no right or wrong.

4. Do you need vision corrective lenses in your sunglasses?

Even if your eyes are super good on normal occasion, driving is different. When you drive you actually read a lot of signs and tend to look much further ahead than while walking and talking. When you go to a doctor to check your eyes, you will often walk out with a prescription for driving purposes only. If this is your case you might as well get sunglasses with prescription lenses to get best of both worlds.

5. Do you need sunglasses for evening driving?

Yes, as funny as it sounds, you need sunglasses in the evening and early morning when sun is on the most horizontal angle. In early hours and just before the sunset sun may not be very powerful but it will beam right into your eyes. This is when you may lose 90% of the road view. You absolutely need sunglasses then.

Lance Armstrong Oakley Sunglasses

Oakley, largest American sunglasses manufacturer, is very devoted to charities that support sport related funds. LIVESTRONG foundation is one of them. Lance Armstrong, the most accomplished American cyclist is a founder of this foundation. Livestrong charity fund is devoted to raising funds for cancer research. Lance Armstrong himself is cancer survivor and is an avid campaigner for all kinds of cancer research programs himself. Livestrong foundation has raised over $400 million since it was founded in 1997. Lance Aemstrong himself has donated personally over $6 million.

Oakley is an official sponsor of Lance Armstrong and contributor to his charity fund. To date Oakley has put over $1.4 million into the fund. In addition for every Livestrong Oakley sunglasses sale, Oakley will put $20. But don't be alarmed, interestingly Livestrong Oakley's are not any more expensive than other glasses of the same type. In fact, you will find they are even cheaper. This is a real devotion to charity work from Oakley. Real, honest support of a foundation.

Oakley Livestrong sunglasses are very beautiful. Mainly due to color combination. Livestrong color is bright yellow. Many Oakley glasses are black, or black being predominant color. Combine it with yellow and you will see an absolutely beautiful pair of sunglasses.

At EyeInform store currently there are four Livestrong models. Have a look:

This model of Oakley Jawbone has vented lenses and comes with additional vented pair of lenses for night cycling. Of course, you can use these glasses for running or any other sport. Vented lenses, with holes on the sides are designed to allow some air between lens and a face to prevent sweating.

Oakley Radar path looks cool because it has shield lens shape. I personally find this model the coolest. This lens shapes allows for best wind flow and best peripheral vision.

Oakley Flack Jacket is by no doubt their signature. Lenses can be replaced with an easy tweak. These glasses are also unisex, and ladies favorites. If you are Asian, you don't even need an Asian fit, this model is narrow enough to not touch you cheeks. If you have high cheek bones, Flack Jacket is perfect.

Oakley Fuel Cell is one of the best sellers for non-sport purposes. Also, one of the cheapest. Don't expect much functionality, but lookwise it is beautiful.
